At REACH Huron we are passionate about healthy food, healthy farming, and healthy communities.  Thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation we have been fortunate enough to spend the last several months working with consultants, experts, and community members to come up with a plan for facilities and programs that can improve local food access and provide food related education.

We’d like to know how food related facilities and programs at the centre could benefit you and your family.

HEALTHY FOODS, HEALTHY COMMUNITIES

Imagine a garden that yields healthy foods and helps to grow a strong and healthy community.

Imagine a space in the heart of Central Huron where people can gather together as families, friends and neighbors, to celebrate agriculture, health, and community.

Imagine a project that teaches children, youth, and adults why food matters and how sustainable agriculture can nurture the land while feeding our bodies.

At REACH we believe that childhood is the most important time in anyone’s life; a person’s experiences throughout childhood sculpts who they become, how they interact with the world and what they want to do with their lives.

It’s important for children to have access to programs that allow them to experience new things, develop strong social skills and build self confidence.   Whether your child has special interests or special needs, please contact us to discuss a program tailored to the individual.

The staff at REACH Huron is passionate about providing exciting recreational and educational opportunities for children throughout Huron County and rural southwestern Ontario in general.

So what is exactly is REACH Kids?  It is a collection of REACH Huron programs for children; it includes fall and winter indoor youth soccer, horseback riding lessons and PA/PD days.  Some of our major REACH Kids programs are described below:

CHAPs- The Central Huron After School Program

CHAPs is an amazing program!  Where else can you send your kids to learn how to cook, to ride horses, to make beautiful crafts and new friends for as little as $3.00 a day?  Along with fun activities, children get to enjoy healthy snacks, and homework help.

The CHAPs program is partially funded by the Ministry of Health Promotion and is offered during the school year Tuesdays through Thursdays from 3:30-6:30 pm.  Parent can sign kids up for the entire semester, for one specific activity or drop in as needed.  Call us at 519 482 3998 x 1485 with questions or to sign your youngster up today!

REACH Kids Camps

We’ve just completed a successful summer camp season.  We offer both day and overnight camps, many with an equine theme.  Some of the favorites are ‘Own a Horse’ where kids get to ride and learn what it takes to care for a horse; or ‘Ride, Shoot and Swim’ which includes horseback riding, archery and swimming; or ‘Riding Stay Camp’ an overnight intensive riding camp.

This year all of our July camps sold out, so be sure to register early next year!

Our March Break camp is a blast!  Kids to get to try a bit of everything; they take a spin on the horses, give archery a shot, create cool crafts, cook yummy foods, play…play…and play some more!  March will be here before you know it, so mark REACH Huron’s March break camp on the calendar.
